Either Hillary is one of the most successful cattle traders of all time or a crook. She has zero integrity.  Didn't even pay taxes on the capital gains until Bill was elected president.

We're talking about integrity, neither candidate has much. Hillary probably has slightly more.

Some here say that they would have voted for Kasich. I agree that some yes but, the majority of those who speak a lot to trash Trump would never have. They would have found dirt on him and made him the biggest evil. They did the same with Romney.

You can't win with people who demonize their opponents by controlling the media a la NAZI Germany. Also another lie that NAZI's were from the right. They were socialists and racist.

They love to say that Conservatives are racists which is a lie. The first President to invite a black man for dinner in the White House was Teddy Roosevelt... a Republican. The President who did the most to liberate America from slavery was Abraham Lincoln... a Republican.

On the scale of using insider information to profit in the cattle futures market, or engaging in slumlord tactics by shutting off heat/hot water in the NYC winters, I'll go with the insider trader.

Seems like the insider trading scandal didn't stop there.  There's the little thing about hiring someone from the DNC after they were outed as an inside 'traitor'.  :-)

I'm glad to see that you've watched my Review of Hillary's America and have come to the same conclusion about the fate of the country as I have. The liberals have had 8 years in charge and have nearly bankrupted the country in the process. We need someone with Donald Trump's experience in handling credit negotiations and skill in navigating bankruptcy to manage our impending national debt default that Obama has gotten us into.

Donald Trump's skillset is very unique and it is also uniquely tailored to this nasty era in America's history. I don't think Hillary has what it takes to sit across the table from the Chineses and stare them straight in the eye and tell them, your bonds are worth zero and are only good as toilet paper from here on out. Trump has been to the rodeo enough times to be able to get the point across in a way that they'll know who is boss.

I'm no Hillary fan, but I'm trying to draw a comparison here. So are you saying these things are worse than subjecting your tenants to trash, rats, freezing cold, etc?

The real problem here is that insider trading is not and should not be a crime in the United States. It is not immoral to profit off of insider trading; it is a victimless crime. Even I will say Hillary did nothing wrong in her trading on the cattle futures markets. Her real problem is the debt she has been involved in loading up on our country, which will lead shortly to our national bankruptcy, and her familiar ties to the late President Friedrich Weimar who was in charge of currency devaluation in Weimar's Germany.

History is playing out again, this time in the United States of America, and the reason why is Hillary adopting her great-uncle's playbook. Insider trading is nothing compared to the trillions of dollars of losses in equity/bond and money market accounts during any supposed hillary presidency.

I agree with all of that.  The only thing the cattle futures incident shows about Hillary is that she either thinks that she is above the law or that she is a hypocrite.  Neither of those would be the case if she was on record saying that insider trading laws were immoral and should be repealed.  But I guarantee you that if she is elected the federal government will continue to prosecute people for insider trading and she will never utter word one on the issue.

The other thing that is ticking me off lately is the people who are making an issue of Trump supposedly not obeying the Cuba trade embargo. I'm no fan of Trump, but if these allegations are true they are heroic and laudable not immoral and deplorable.    Trade benefits both sides and any law, rule, or regulation which interferes with trade between anyone anywhere is immoral as it hurts everyone involved.  In this case, even though it was an economic negative for the US as well, it hurt the people of Cuba more than the people of the US. Which is why it was done.  To the extent that anyone ignores the immoral rule and trades anyway that is a heroic act.

Who said it was insider trading? It doesn't look like insider trading to me but straight up theft.  The broker was taking both sides of the trade and sweeping the winning side of the trade into Hillary's account and the losing side of the trade into another person's account.  This was common back in the 70's.

LC, the question is whether Donald has done anything illegal?  Donald might be a _____ (fill in the blank), but hasn't done anything illegal like Hillary as far as I know.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not for Donald because he utterly fails to understand the economics of trade, but Hillary is a repeat offender.  She has repeatedly conducted criminal activity and has gotten away with it.  Donald is a tough jerk but he isn't a criminal.  If you have any sense of integrity within yourself you will be able to see the difference.

WOW! I don't even know where to begin with this one. First you accuse Obama of bankrupting the country. Never mind the fact that when he took over the country was in a full blown financial crisis and now things don't look too bad. But then your cure to all that is to put Trump in charge in order to default on US bonds, which would be literally bankrupting the country. Nice thinking!

It is clear to me that your reading comprehension skills are at a rudimentary level. I guess I should expect no less from a Hillary Clinton fan. I clearly said that Obama and Hillary are the cause of the national bankruptcy both here and on my YouTube review of Hillary's America. Donald Trump needs to be the man to clean up their big mess by navigating our own national bankruptcy, just as he has navigated so many bankruptcies of his own.

No other candidate in this race knows 1/10th as much about financial restructurings. Not Hillary and certainly not for Gary ALLEPO Johnson.

Since the markets are heavily unanimous that the US is extremely far away from bankruptcy at this point (especially given a large percentage of the debt is just owed to itself and the Fed), engineering a default would cause an utter catastrophe to the world financial system which would make even the Great Depression look like a walk in the park. The US dollar would obviously lose its reserve currency status and would plummet. All US overseas FDI would probably be seized and banking systems the world over would collapse. I cannot possibly see how it would be sane to cause this just to avoid paying the relatively small proportion of the overall debt to China, Japan, Saudi Arabia etc. Just ordering the Fed to create additional dollars or minting some platinum coins would be way more preferable in every way. This might even end up creating an escape from the deflationary conditions that nobody seems to be able to escape from.

If you really believe that the US will default, you will make a fortune by shorting Treasury futures. For the US, would be akin to cutting off its head rather than just its nose to spite its face but I think somebody will be sane enough to stop it.

Yes but you're voting for Clinton so therefore you're challenged :P. That's why you don't realize that what the country needs is the mother of all economic crises, blowing up financial systems all over the world, mass unemployment and massive destruction of wealth.

Edit: physdude, you're incorrect about treasury futures. If scott gets his wish there won't be a counterparty in the world to pay him his gains.

After seeing the youtube video in your sig, I am about 99% sure you are a troll. If you are not, it might be useful to know that hoarding silver would probably not be of much use if the US actually does default since the last time it arguably defaulted (on the Liberty bonds), it took the precaution of making gold ownership illegal so that no domestic gold market existed which enabled the legal short-changing of the bond holder's right to receive their money in gold.

Also, domestic bankruptcies (even relatively large ones) are completely different beasts from large sovereign bankruptcies. I am not sure expertise in one will be particularly relevant to the other.

Ah yes, of course! The CME would almost definitely become defunct.

Thinking about it a bit more, I suppose the only way to play it would be to become a survivalist but that doesn't seem like a fun way to live so a stash of fine whisky, pot, caviar etc. for a final long bash might be the way to go.  ;)

Cardboard,

You might be interested to read about the evolution of the Republican and Democratic Parties over US history.  At one time the Democrats were proponents of "small govt" and "conservative values" like keeping slavery.  The ideologies and values of the parties have switched a couple times over the 150 years since Lincoln.  I'm no expert on history or politics, but I think making comparisons between Republican party of Abe Lincoln's era and Republican party of today seems completely misguided and irrelevant.

Is this a joke about Baron's cyber skills?

I saw Don Jr in an interview saying if Sr won they would use a blind trust that Jr, Eric and Ivanka would run.  The interviewer said that's not a blind trust, obviously.  Jr insisted it would be because they wouldn't talk to their Dad about it ???  These kids don't seem too bright.

Found it:

Stephanopoulos then noted that both Bushes who served as president, along with Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan and 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney, all put their assets in a blind trust during the campaign, adding, "your father hasn't done that."

"He will certainly do it if he becomes president," Trump Jr. said, to which Stephanopoulos responded, "A blind trust, it's not a blind trust if it's being run by his children."

Once again, Trump Jr. disputed the characterization.

"It is because he'll have nothing to do with it, George. He’s said that. He wants nothing to do with it. He wants to fix this country. He wants get the country on the right track again," Trump Jr. remarked, agreeing with the notion that Stephanopoulos proposed a "wall between you and your siblings and your father."

Stephanopoulos pressed, "He's still going to know what the businesses are, where they are."

"We're not going to discuss those things. We're just not—it doesn't matter. Trust me. As you know, it's a very full-time job. He doesn't need to worry about the business," Trump Jr. said. "The business is in good hands. He trusts us with that, 100 percent."

Bolded for emphasis.

Agreed.

One should also remember what Munger says about extreme ideology turning your brain into cabbage.  The Obama haters are already there and comparing the US media landscape with Nazi Germany's propagandist? coleslaw anyone?  (Re: our president, there is a condition aptly called Obama derangement syndrome.  Now it seems to be morphing into Clinton derangement syndrome, see today's, Friday, 9/30 in the Wall Street Journal from Rabinowitz http://www.wsj.com/articles/hillary-hatred-derangement-syndrome-1475192121)

The idea that Trump is anything but the shallow, grubby, vainglorious idiot he is, well pass the cabbage salad. He would be the most unstable and unfit president in history. (To quote the Wall Street Journal's Rabinowitz) And, as to him running Berkshire, that is as comical to non-shareholders, as a Trump presidency would be tragic, but the questions sure got a lot of posts. (Also, many suggest that he is not all that rich and that a simple index fund would have beaten his returns, with the added benefit of no bankruptcies and, ahem, not being in bed with him. )

If you can't make the difference between 3 children (Trump's oldest obviously) who are motivated, managing billion dollar businesses, well spoken, want to do well for themselves and others, are having successful families and Buffett's 3 children who have divorced, don't seem to share at all the motivation of their father to be successful, seem lost in life, then I don't know what to say.

I firmly believe that Buffett having seen how he failed as a father motivated him to preach for that give away of 50% of your wealth and be so opposed to generational transfer of wealth.

The concept of illegal insider trading doesn't really exist in the commodity markets and especially didn't before 2012.
