I have recently discovered Sebastian Thrun (thanks to Mr. Pabrai discussing driverless cars) and find his work to be very interesting.  Here are a few of his video clips, but I would google more if you find them interesting.

As you will learn he is a very interesting professor/engineer/inventor

I'm sure I'm late to the game on this one, but I thought I would share it with the board anyways.  I wasn't able to find Sebastian's name on the board, so as always forgive me if you are familiar with him and have already seen the videos below.

Never heard of him before... Therefore, at least as far as I am concerned, a big 'thank you!' for posting those videos! ;)

Cheers,

Yeah, Thrun co-ran the first massive online course - Stanford AI course. On the wave of that course's success, he started Udacity at the same time as Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller started Coursera. It seems that Udacity was less successful than Coursera. Funny enough, Stanford now runs its online courses on a 3rd platform (which might be onsite deployment of some Coursera code variant, but I am not sure). And then MIT/Harvard/etc. edX is 4th platform.

Disclosure: I took the Stanford AI course and I know some people involved in both companies.
