What part of : "I in no way am defending the government of Cuba. But punishing the PEOPLE of Cuba with the U.S. blockade is A) inhumane" did you not understand so I can explain that to you as you think I somehow support the regime? Cubs when I asked “How do you justify Trump’s unconscionable order to withhold medical equipment to Canada.” You have no answer. But it is a really, really stupid decision that he refuses to change. What if Canada stop supplying the products to make those masks? What if Canada stops the 3,000 nurses that cross the border every day to staff Detroit’s hospitals? What if Canada was to throw the switch on the power Canada supplies to keep the lights on in New York, Boston, etc. The point I am trying to make is that this is an example of how your guy keeps making embarrassing knee jerk reactions to things he doesn’t fully understand.

Cubs, everything I said was quite straightforward with no deflection. However, you still haven’t answered any of the questions I asked. Try this one: How do you justify Trump’s unconscionable order to withhold medical equipment to Canada and other countries? Are we not all in this together?

I in no way am defending the government of Cuba. But punishing the PEOPLE of Cuba with the U.S. blockade is A) inhumane and B) forces Cuba to rely on China and Russia for their needs - what choice do they have? After 60 years shouldn't it have ocured to someone that it is has not worked?
-
As usual Cubs, you avoid the questions. Long Haul I agree. It only makes sense to wear masks. There are thousands of people who have the virus and do not know it yet. If they wore masks it would go a long way to reducing the spread. What's the downside? But when the guy in charge makes light of it ...

The reason you haven’t been to Cuba Cubs is because you are not allowed to go there by your government. On the other hand a Cuban can leave Cuba - I can send you photos of a couple who have visited us if you like. Now which is the free country? Having just returned from Cuba and having made numerous trips there over the past 20 years and having made numerous friends there, I think I just might know a little more about the situation there than do you. Unlike the US they have free education and have free medical care. They have excellent doctors and in fact, send doctors all over the world for humanitarian reasons. The problem with their health care system is that the US has blocked their access to equipment and medicine. Nice guys, eh. So now Trump has decided to class Canada like Cuba and has ordered 3M not to supply N95 masks to Canada. Defend that.

Quick question Cubs. How many time have you been to Cuba? If not, why not?
-
Paul, my sources are not biased. I was there.

"Trump has to keep up his MO of undoing every action of Obama's and showing that to supporters (and to Cuban ones in Miami). He does not think about starving/ill Cubans and does not care about long term strategic benefits of having Cuba-U.S. aligned. It's a purely self interested action from someone who has a multi-decade track record of self interested actions (i.e. par for the course)." And some people here don't realize that narcissism is a mental illness and still support this disgusting excuse for a man.

LC "What the absolute hell is this nonsense: https://morningstaronline.co.uk/article/w/us-blocks-medical-aid-to-cuba-in-show-of-wild-west-brutality" Trump has turned into an absolute power hungry monster - afraid he may lose support of his followers. I recently returned from Cuba where I have a number of friends. They are virtually on the edge of starvation due to Trumps inhuman blockade. The people of Cuba are on the whole well educated and intelligent people. If the US wants to see China and Russia on their doorstep this blockade is certainly the way to accomplish it. This is typical disgusting behaviour, Canada next? Once the US smartens up and dumps Trump they are going to have a lot of kissing up to do .

I have always had the utmost respect for our American neighbours, but boy is it wearing thin. So far this week, he wanted to mass troops on the border. (For what to keep Americans in?) Now he orders 3M not to supply us with any masks to protect our health workers. Remember when Canada took in hundreds of stranded US planes on 9/11? Sent troops to die alongside US soldiers in Afghanistan? Sent help to New Orleans after Katrina? Donald Trump clearly doesn't.

“The fun thing is that two can play this game. The pulp used to make the N95 masks comes from BC. It's not the right move for Canada to effectively kill a bunch of American healthcare workers just because Trump wants to do things that will kill a bunch of Canadian healthcare workers.” So Trump orders 3M not to send masks to Canada to protect our doctors and nurses. BUT.. I believe 3,000 CANADIAN nurses and health care workers cross the border every day from Windsor to staff Detroit hospitals. What happens if they stay home? Or perhaps Canada should dim the lights in New York and Boston just to remind them where a lot of their power comes from. I could go on

That is a slap in the face to all Canadians by Trump.
-
CORRECTION: "Trump ORDERS medical supply firm 3M to stop selling N95 respirators to Canada" Just shows how oblivious Trump is about Canada / US interaction.
-
"Trump asks medical supply firm 3M to stop selling N95 respirators to Canada" Nice neighbours.

"We are going to feel like idiots if we find out that 80% of the deaths could have been prevented if everybody simply wore makeshift cloth masks. I honestly think that this can actually be the case." Agreed
-
Cubs, if you have so little respect for members of CoBF and only have time for other Trump supporters you might want to consider going elsewhere where people might be more supportive of your views since you seem only receptive to those who hold you own views

"If acting like any other flu projects to 80k-160k deaths when all is said and done then I'd say it was blown way out of proportion." I think what people are missing is that this is not REPLACING the flu, it is in ADDITION to the flu deaths. And 80-160K deaths may not be a big deal to you, but when some of those deaths become you or yours then it is a different story.
-
I know what they'll say. It's what they always say: "Nobody could have predicted this." Have you been talking to Trump?
-
“...scaring the shit out of everyone will also just make matters worse..." The problem is that it tends to becomes necessary when a lot of people believe this is no big deal and like some posters, try to spread that kind of misinformation to the gullible. People probably should be scared.
-
“Yep, another Trump guy with his "This is like the flu take". Thank you!” Yes I have noticed that several of the members of “The Trump Can Do No Wrong Cult” have jumped into this conversation to support Trump and his delusional ideas. This “flu” will be all over by Easter, etc, etc. I don’t know if they really don’t understand how serious Covid-19 can get or if they have just drunk the Kool Aid to the extent they have become just as delusional as their cult leader. But it certainly is not helpful to under estimate the effects of this pandemic or to demean those taking realistic steps to stop its spread. And by the way, it is a “pandemic” despite what Mr. Grannis may believe. I wonder what these people will say as the numbers increase?
-
I believe Northbridge does - but not 100% sure.
-
Here is a fine example of how a dysfunctional government is fighting Covid-19... WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump said Friday he has asked Vice President Mike Pence not to call governors he says have not been "appreciative" enough of his efforts on coronavirus – a group of critics that included a governor he referred to only by gender, "Don't call the woman in Michigan," Trump said at a press conference while discussing Pence's work as head of the White House Coronavirus Task Force. Yup, that is how you pull together to fight a pandemic.

"Maybe Canada can go ask China for military support....." But unlike some other countries I don't believe Canada pissed off any other countries lately.

The supermarket was to open early for seniors and a long line had formed at the door. Suddenly a young man jumped into the front of the line whereupon an elderly lady beat him to the curb with her umbrella and the crowed cheered. The young man dusted himself off and again tried to get in front of the line but an old army vet beat him to the ground with his cane. Once again the young man picked himself an made his way to the door. As the croud prepared for another attack the young man said, “Folks if you don’t let me open the store no one is going to get their groceries.
