  1. Why the preference for APO/BX over KKR?
  2. 0% cash, roughly 15-20% in trading positions/options like Castanza
  3. Stocks straight up, I wish... Tech sure but that industry is carrying the S&P right now.
  4. While that is true, I prefer OXY due to it's lower dividend and more focus on deleveraging & buybacks. I get taxed on my dividends but not capital gains on stocks, so OXY is more tax friendly for me. On top of that, Uncle Warren has pretty much put a floor on the stock price...
  5. I have a home gym and typically do 2 supersets (this is where u alternate exercises with opposing muscle groups to avoid time loss due to fatigue.) One exercise per muscle group, 3 compound and one isolation. It goes like this: Back (rows, snatch, deadlift, pull ups...) Chest (incline/decline bench, flys, dumbell press, dips,...) One of each, repeat untill you finish your #sets. I mix it up, 5x5, 4x10, 3x8,... Legs (squat, lunges,...) Isolation (calves, biceps, triceps) or abs. Same as above. If you pick a low #sets with this workout (like 3x5 or 3x8) you should be able to finish in 20min. I workout like this 3-4x per week though I often take 4-5 sets which takes me longer.
  6. I believe there was a substantial impact on wheat prices though, Ukraine is a large supplier there.
  7. Ukraine will become an interesting place to invest. Lots of NATO/Ru cash going there to recovery the country. Supply chain will take a while, especially coming from Russia.
  8. 35, still very much in the 'doing what I have to for money phase'. Fortunately a 9-5 management position is not such a hard life, having 2 small kids though, that is the hard part... Going through the same things Greg, I used to play sports daily at high intensity without issues. Now my knees and ankles hurt after some football, shoulder hurts after weight lifting,... I am starting to consider golf Every year I think last years 'me' was a shitty investor. Mainly thanks to everything I keep learning here, thanks guys!
  9. Been wondering about this one, if you would buy & hold a leveraged S&P tracker (3x) wouldn't you crush the market without ever having to any analysis by default? Assuming you're not buying at what is going to be the peak for the next 20 years.
  10. I noticed the recent run up, still looking for a good entry point.
  11. Interesting find, might join you on this one, going to take a deeper look.
  12. Then why did you disagree with james his post? Seems like you are agreeing then...
  13. And your answer means you 'bought' that better relationship by making more money? Alternatively you could have learned to live with less.
  14. I agree, it would be a national outrage to sell Nintendo to the Americans.
  15. I always get travel insurance, I have an epileptic daughter so if she has seizures where I am not covered, I'll go bankrupt But that is why I specified "in good health". Makes all the difference... I had the Kobe Wagyu in Kobe itself, really not that expensive over there... Personally I rarely forgo an activity because I can't afford it, sometimes I just feel too guilty spending so much money. I have a wife and 2 kids, we live very comfortable in a large house (300m²) with a nice garden (1200m²). I make about 70k before taxes, my wife 30k. I do get a lot of things (car, internet, health insurance..) from my employer. Honestly my main reason to grow my portfolio is early retirement, there isn't any thing I would buy that I can't now...
  16. A life shared with friends and family in good health is all you need. Everything else is gravy...
  17. Yes Leonidas is the best, I prefer the manon:
  18. “Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.” Strong men are fading... Same here, I really don't need to go back as far as 5y for that. PS: I love that book, read it multiple times. Also enjoyed Mark's follow up book Everything is fucking: a book about hope, though it gets a bit more complex for night time reading imho.
  19. Could be a good time to go looking for japanese net nets again...
