-4% lessons learned 1. Put less emphases on this forums recommendations (some are great but I jump in to stupid things) 2. Please don't listen to my ideas. 3. Don't put 14% in a small oc company with allot of debt 14% should be saved for IBM or similar. 4. My strengths is really in no debt or large cap companies. 5. Barely beating the index the last 4 years lets hope my activities are worth while long term. 6. I am 40% in Oil and Steel so to put it mildly tough. Cheers

I think that part of becoming a better investor is knowing faults that the population makes. I just started to play online poker with real money ($5) and started reading a book a bout it. But the level of excitement and odds decision one makes online is fascinating at a rapid pace. I found that I was way to aggressive as one should fold 90% of hands dealt according to gurus :D What is fascinating is how other players act. It almost is a mini stock market with the proverbial the stock market behaves like a voting machine, but in the long term it acts like a weighing machine at works here too. So this got my thinking maybe I am just average and my stock market out performance the last 4 years is just by chance and risk. Poker I think is therefore a good dose of real life fallibility as when one thinks ones hand is superior others have a better one. So like Munger waits 10 years to buy something he might be right. And I think I have been punching to many holes in my punch card the last 4 years. And poker is good at showing that. So if you are bored and want to see how wrong ones odds decision can be Texas holdem online quickly teaches you that :D

Would ever swap a productive asset for an unproductive one?
ASTA replied to giofranchi's topic in General Discussion
Gio as I am sure you know is that Italy has had one of the worst shrinkage of city's the last 20 years and going forward. Don't remember where but was looking at Hungarian properties but saw Budapest had no population growth for 30 years actually negative same with Rome and other city's in Italy. Worst was Russia then east Europe then Italy. My two cents on this topic :) -
I am not sorry :D sold my 20% stake to buy cheaper stuff. Last time I did this I sold 20% in BRK.b to buy SHLD talk about a bad move for my health.

I am not rich but whould like to come to Toronto :) tired off Europe. Have been thinking Singapore or Toronto lately lucky enough my wife is born in Toronto so it's easier to convince here to move there :) From what I read and see in Europe my very personal opinion is that to many low wage people getting in too Europe and they are why smarter then gullible swedes for an example. But my family has lived in four different continents the last 40 years. So I am used to moving.

What really changed my mind on spending money was when I went to Nice for holiday and went to Etap(Ibis light) 60 euros a night hotel and there was no soap in the room. So as much as I love to save money I am going to spend a bit more on hotels from now on :D I think that the game of saving is fun and wont stop on that but I don't see me going to no soap 60 euro hotels anytime soon.
