  4. I think we are still very innings of battery tech. With all this money and attention on the issue, innovation will come through to drive down cost and increase capacity. It will be a bumpy road ahead but we will see substantial improvements.

  9. Even "safe" stocks can be down 10,20,30...40% in a short period of time. Do you really want to risk that much principal when the cash is actually needed? Can you just use portfolio margin for that amount? I'm not sure where're you domiciled and the margin rates/requirements, but I can tell you my experience here in the U.S. I don't bother "saving" cash for big items. I just maximize my account and when I need a quick loan, I tap the account for it. If you're borrowing a small amount relative to your total portfolio, the risk is fairly minimal even if the stock market crashes... I use Interactive Brokers.
  10. That's over at the Bogleheads forum. Multi-millionaires asking questions like if they can afford a 20k car

  13. I do own some BTI but haven't added lately. Between all my REITs and now some tobacco stocks, I'm growing into a piggy.
  14. Congrats NYC... New York just surpassed San Francisco as the most expensive rental market in the U.S. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/08/24/new-york-surpasses-san-francisco-as-most-expensive-rental-market.html New York City is now the most expensive rental market in the nation, finally surpassing San Francisco. The median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in New York City is now $2,810, and in San Francisco it is $2,800. Since January, New York rents have jumped nearly 20%, but San Francisco rent is up by only about 5%.
